Johnathan and I love to travel. If you asked what our joint passion is the answer would be travel. Holding a close second would be chocolate. For our ten year anniversary and my 33rd birthday we spent a week in Hawaii. My mom came to Utah and took care of our boys while we took off on an amazingly romantic and restful vacation. Maui was, well Maui - perfect! Kauai was what I remember from my youth "Fantasy Island." The best part of the trip for us was realizing we are still so happy to be together.
We had so much fun! As I looked back over these past ten years I feel such a deep gratitude for the life blessings that have come because we chose each other. Three wonderful, smart, fun children, a beautiful home, loving and generous extended family, the blessings of our faith, and feeling more comfortable in our own skin. Life is so wonderful!
A little fact about the island of Kauai: Two hurricanes in the past 26 years Hurricane Iwa, which struck on 23 November 1982, and Iniki on 11 September 1992, have left the island full of fowl. I am talking about chickens. Tons of wild roosters and hens. A hurricane will tear apart chicken coops but these creative birds survive the storm. The fact that the chickens can find food anywhere and have no real predators on the Island has created quite a funny situation. Funny if you are a tourist. Johnathan thought the chickens were hilarious. We even had to take some photos.
This rooster was just hagin' out on the South of Kauai. We went snorkeling at Po ipu beach and there were a good 15 of these creatures enjoying the tourists and the sun. We had a good laugh. For any of you traveling to Kauai in the winter snorkeling at Po ipu is a must.
All in all we had a blast. To sum it up here is my best of list:
Best sunset - Tropical Restaurant, Kaanapali, Maui.
Best swimming beach - Po ipu, Kauai.
Best local spot - IAO Valley, Maui.
Best dinner - Mama's Fish house with Todd and Sherine, Maui.
Best hotel bed EVER! - Kaanapali The Westin Maui. Heavenly
Best breakfast - Mr. Sub Breakfast Burrito, Whalers Village, Maui.
Best Ice cream - Lappart's, all over Hawaii
Best clothing store - Honolua Surf Co. - all over Hawaii
Best Fish Tacos - Duke's, Kauai
Best Pina Colada - Westin Maui
Best Arcade - D & Ivy's place, Maui - Thanks Smith's & Hardings!
I could go on, but let me end with Best Mom - Meme - Mahalo!
Best husband - Johnathan - I love you!

the big question is---did you wear that great black dress to dinner like you did on your honeymoon??? Hawaii is rated my favorite, most romantic, most relaxing vacation with David yet! Glad you had a wonderful time!

It looks like you guys had an awesome trip. I will refrain from being jealous (as best I possibly can). Happy Birthday to us! It's crazy how much we keep finding we have in common. :-)
